Happy Sunday. Two quick things:
1.) I appreciate the artistic skill of the person who made the original version of this. I thought it was fantastic…except for me Matt Damon having two left hands in the original. That was a fail.
I was still going to share it, but again, I don’t want to invade anyone else’s privacy, so I made a minor change….and gave myself Matt a new right hand. No disrespect to the original artist — your version was better.

2.) I wouldn’t normally bother posting on a Sunday, but as I was enjoying a coffee and watching some news this morning, I saw a story that blew my mind: https://www.cbsnews.com/video/former-judges-speak-out-on-trump-admins-immigration-court-purges/
As a soon-to-be-ex-member of the legal community who devoted his life to protecting the rule of law, I cannot tell you how shocking this story was. I wish it was fake. It’s not.
Trump is such a wannabe dictator, he isn’t even trying to hide what he is doing. Rather than lobbying to change the law (which is what the Constitution requires), he is simply firing judges who don’t rule the way he wants them to (even if the law requires it).
Sound familiar?
Fuck Democracy. This is pure insanity. Democracy no longer exists. Our country has literally been stolen from under our feet.
Although I am not MAGA, I do support a strong border, and I oppose illegal immigration. I also support all laws, whether I agree with them or not…and no – that doesn’t mean I support AZ bar ethical rules which violate the constitution — that’s different because, “a law repugnant to the Constitution is void.” Marbury v. Madison, 5 U.S. 137, 180 (1803).
Anyway, that’s not the point. Here’s the point — Trump hates immigrants, which is fine. But current US law allows people to come here seeking asylum. That has been the law for decades. Under existing law, asylum seekers are:
A.) NOT here illegally (a person seeking asylum is lawfully allowed to be here), and
B.) Entitled to due process, including a hearing to prove their case.
Trump doesn’t like the current state of immigration law. Rather than following the constitutional requirements for changing the law, he instructed the Department of Justice to ignore the law. That includes removing judges who are following the law, so they can be replaced with judges who rule the way Trump wants them to.
If that doesn’t terrify you, it should. Laws are made by the legislative branch, not the executive branch. Except where Trump is concerned.
Let me add one last thing — I have a close friend who recently applied for food stamps (SNAP). This was due to illness resulting in her being unable to work. This friend has worked her whole life, has college and post-graduate degrees, and she has a child to feed. She literally can’t work through no fault of her own, and she paid money into the system for decades so if and when she needed help, it would be there.
Now she needs help for the first time in her life, but she can’t get it….because Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” made it WAY harder for people to get food stamps. Trump fucked over the poor so Elon Musk could get a tax break. What a hero. Jesus in the flesh.
The worst part — my friend (a former Democrat) voted for Trump. She justified that at the time by saying: “He seems to have some good ideas.”
SMDH. It’s a sad and dark time for America.
