Mata Speaks (Again) and YUCK, Part 2🤮

Last night, I got a pleading from Judge Mata’s dad which I described as “yuck”. I was being polite.

After that post, I got a 2nd treat — this time from the judge herself: Mata Response to Motion to Compel.

Having read both of these….all I can say is….this is not the legal profession I once knew.

Or maybe it is. Maybe this is exactly the sort of rank sophistry I was born to fight.

When I was in law school in the late 1990s, the big news of the day involved the President of the United States (who was also a lawyer) receiving blow jobs from an intern in the Oval Office. He lied about it for a while, was caught, then apologized. We all had a good chuckle, then moved on.

Then we somehow leaped backwards in time 50 years. I feel like we’re back in the days of Richard Nixon. It’s literally that bad.

Every argument Mata makes here is wrong. It’s actually worse than that. This involves intentional, active deception. If this was a normal civil case pending in a normal civil court, I’d be moving for sanctions.

But somehow, it has suddenly become OK to pretend the law isn’t the law and the facts aren’t the facts. Somehow it’s become OK to lie. Lying has become an presidentially-authorized sport.

“Hand-sized fetus”? Yeah, that was a lie. No one cares. Iran has nuclear weapons? A lie with gas now above $5/gallon. WMD in Iraq? A lie that killed 600,000 people.

I honestly wish I didn’t care so much about the truth. And NO, I do not condone ANYONE lying, EVER. Lies are fatal, and the truth always comes out in the end.

Along the way, pulling the truth from the jaws of dishonesty takes a lot of work. I still have faith the truth will eventually come out, but man, it is really soul-destroying to see the lengths people will go to trying to ensure that doesn’t happen.

Anyway, I will file my reply to this today…and then we will just sit and wait.
